Aiding Inventors with Product Design
We worked with inventors Jose Longoria and Mel Kennedy to help develop a prototype design for a new picture hanging tool.
What We Did
Initial Ideation
By sketching, we were able to facilitate early design ideation and determine the design direction. Some initial thoughts on styling and form language were developed in this stage to communicate ruggedness, precision and reliability.
CAD Modeling
The product required mechanical design to create some of the articulating features. Geometric details of the assembly were worked using 3D CAD to ensure function.
3D Renderings
We were able to use the CAD models to generate photorealistic renderings of the product concept. Additionally, the CAD files were directly used by the factory to develop a functional prototype and provide production cost estimates.
